Where are the parking ramps located? ”
Main St. Ramp –
located between Main St. & State St. on
100 North Third

Market Square Ramp
– located at the corner of Fourth
and Jay Streets.

Are the parking spaces enclosed or covered?
There are no
enclosed parking spaces available at this time. Covered
space availability continually changes. Currently, there are
no covered spaces available
in the
Main
St.
ramp. There are available covered spaces in the
Market
Square
ramp, mainly on the upper two levels. There are free, 12 hour, covered spaces
in the
Civic Center
ramp on a first come, first served basis. There are free, 2 hour, covered
spaces in all ramps on a first come, first served basis. There are no covered
spaces in the surface lots.

What about Handicapped Accessible spaces?
There are handicapped accessible spaces
in all surface lots. There are
handicapped accessible spaces available on all levels of all ramps.
4.
Are the ramps equipped with elevators?
Yes, there are public access elevators at all ramps, two each at
Market Square
and
Civic
Center
and one at
Main
St
5.
Can I rent a space on a 24/7 basis?
Yes, but only if you are a downtown resident.
An exception may be granted by the
Parking Utility Board on rare occasions.

What is the monthly fee for parking space

for detailed fee information.
7. How do I go about renting a space?
A) On Line at
www.cityoflacrosse.org - Click on Parking
Lease Application – Fill out the application
and submit it on line – Send a check to the Department of Public Works/Parking,
400 La Crosse St., La Crosse WI. 54601. Your space will be reserved when payment
is received.
B) In person at the Department of Public Works, 5th floor, City
Hall, 400 La Crosse St. La Crosse WI 54601.
When the space is reserved, the City will produce a sign to mark your spot.
This usually takes approximately one
week. In the meantime, a temporary
sign is installed.
8.
What do I do if someone else is parked in my spot?
1.) Call the La Crosse Police Department
at 785-5962 and explain
your dilemma. Give them a description
of the vehicle including license # and color. The Police will ticket the encroaching vehicle
and give you the option of having it towed or not.
2) Park in a space that is not designated as reserved and call the Department
of Public Works (789-7570) and let them know what space you
parked in. You will not be ticketed.
9.
How can I pay?
a)
In person
at the Department of Public Works office, 5th
floor in City Hall.
You must bring the applicable invoice for proper credit.
b)
By mail,
make checks payable to City Treasurer and send
to Public Works/Parking,
400 La Crosse St., La
Crosse , WI
. 54601. Payment must be received by the first
of the month being invoiced and must include the applicable invoice
for proper credit.
10. How will I be billed?
You may choose to be billed monthly, quarterly, semi annually or annually.
A statement will be sent to you according to your chosen billing interval.
You will be billed prior to each rental period and total payment must be made.
11. Can I change my billing preference?
Yes, but only at the end of your
currently chosen billing period. e.g.
You have chosen to be billed semi annually and after the third month you want to
change to monthly. You must wait until the end of the sixth month to begin
monthly billing (you
have already paid for 6 months of parking).
12. Will my parking lease fee remain the
same as long as I do not terminate my space? Parking fees are set
by the Parking Utility Board and are subject to change at any time.
If the
Parking Utility changes the leased parking fees, your lease fee will increase (or
decrease) immediately to reflect the change.
13. What happens if payment is not made or
received on time. If payment is not received by the 20th
day of the month, your sign will be removed and parking privileges will be terminated.
14. Will the City refund unused monthly rent
if I properly terminate my lease? Yes, but only in full month increments. Eg. You rent a space and pay quarterly for January, February and March.
On February 5, you give notice of termination.
You will only receive a refund
for the March rent paid.
15. If I want to terminate my parking lease
in the middle of the month, is the rent pro rated?
No, rent is due
and payable at the beginning of the month and no refunds are given if you
terminate before the end of a full month.
16. How do I terminate?
You must notify the Parking Utility Board at least ten (10) days prior to the end
of the last month in which you will be leasing the parking space(s). A
letter can be mailed to or dropped off at the Department of Public Works offices,
City Hall,
